About NameGenie
NameGenie pairs every baby name with the numbers that actually matter: what it means, where it came from, and what 145 years of US parents did with it. Then a generator turns the same data into suggestions built around your taste — not a random list.
Where the data comes from
All popularity figures come from the US Social Security Administration's annual baby names dataset (1880–2024), which is public domain. Charts show the real count of babies given each name each year. Meanings and etymologies are compiled for educational reference.
How the generator works
Every name is profiled on origin, style era, syllables, ending sound and popularity band (rare / sweet spot / popular). The genie scores candidates against your filters — style, first letter, rarity preference — and favors names in the "sweet spot": known enough to feel real, rare enough to feel like yours.
